When I received an invite from Moonflower books to review The Traitor by Ava Glass I remembered I’d read and enjoyed a book by the author previously so said yes without really looking into it. When it arrived I realised it was a spy book and if I’m honest I wouldn’t normally read a spy thriller, but I’d said I would so I thought I’d best give it a go. Well I’m very glad I did!

The Traitor is the second book by author Ava Glass that tells us the story of secret agent Emma. When another agent is found dead, Emma and her boss Ripley soon realise that this is as assasination and someone is sending a message. Emma finds out that the dead spy had been investigating some Russian Oligarchs who he believed were spies, and being helped by a third mystery man. Despite Ripley’s hesitations Emma goes undercover posing as a staff member of one of the Russians luxury yachts. However what sounds like a dream job soon turns into a nightmare as Emma finds out that it’s not only her own life that is at risk.
I absolutely loved this novel! The story is a fast paced, high action ride that doesn’t let up. The action moves around the world both on and off the yacht and the descriptions of the ‘glamourous’ life behind a super yacht were fascinating.
I liked the character of Emma and it’s good to read a female character who is smart and confident and puts her job first. The cast of supporting characters are all well rounded, and I found the relationship between Emma and Ripley interesting. He’s almost a father figure to her, whilst still being the person whose job is to put her in harms way.
Whilst I have to admit I wasn’t surprised by the end reveal it was still a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you like a good female lead character in a fast paced thriller then I would definitely recommend this.
